| Barnwood furniture, or weathered timber, is defined as pieces created using salvaged wood from pre-existing structures. This wood usually comes from structures like old or torn down barns or houses, fences, and other pre-constructed creations. Prior to making our products from this wood, we handpick which materials will be best for each piece we create. We only choose the highest quality barnwood that is stable, gently worn, and solid.
As well, we don't over process the wood we salvage from the forests in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and Wyoming. We try to keep the wood in its natural state as much as possible to preserve the look and feel of nature at its best. The wood is harvested in the wilderness, so each piece has a weathered sort of look to it with the natural stress of nature adding knobs, nooks, and notches unique to each piece.
Because of this, no two pieces are alike. Once the materials have been chosen and cut, we peel the wood, sand it, and fit each piece by hand using mortise and tenon joinery. To finish the piece, we add stain and/or hand-rubbed beeswax to it just before we send it to you. The results are stunning.
We pride ourselves in offering the widest selection of unique log furniture around. Especially considering each piece is hand made from start to finish, the size and breadth of our collection is truly remarkable. Get your own piece of barnwood or log furniture from Blue Ridge Log Works today.
